Florence Nightingale Leadership Scholar

Trained in Dublin and qualified as a RSCN (Temple St.) 1981 and RGN (St Vincents) 1983. Worked in Saudi Arabia and Oman in PICU and high dependency.

Joined the NHS in 1990 to specialise in neonatal nursing and worked clinically and managerially. Trained as an ANNP 2002 and Neonatal Nurse Consultant since 2010. Developed the MSc ANNP course in Plymouth and have a pathway from QIS to ENNP to ANNP.

Lead 20 NICU, 14 Neonatal Transitional Care cots a Neonatal Outreach Service and Regional Neonatal Transport Service.

In 2013 elected Clinical Director of service, first nurse in UK to hold this role.

Focus on developing the neonatal services ensuring safe and sustainable staffing, including developing advanced level nurses and quality roles to support the service and passionate about preventing separation of mother/father and baby.

Chair Non-Medical Consultant Practitioner forum in University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.

Chair the UK Neonatal Nurses Association (NNA) membership 600.
